Topics

The topics include but are not limited to:

  • Multi-modal foundation models for learning representations of proteins, DNAs, RNAs, transcriptomic data, metabolomic data, and other biological modalities.
  • Multi-modal LLMs for predicting the functions of proteins, DNAs, RNAs, and other biomolecules.
  • Multi-modal foundation models for learning joint representations of multi-omics data.
  • Multi-modal generative models for designing proteins, DNAs, RNAs, and other biomolecules.
  • Applications of multi-modal foundation models and LLMs in drug discovery, precision medicine, personalized treatment, and beyond.
  • Interpretability and robustness in biological multi-modal foundation models and LLMs.

Submission Format

We invite submissions of full papers, as well as works-in-progress, position papers, and papers describing open problems and challenges. While original contributions are preferred, we also invite submissions of high-quality work that has recently been published in other venues or is concurrently submitted. Papers should be up to 4 pages in length (excluding references) formatted using the ICML template. All the submissions should be anonymous. An optional appendix can be added in the submission, after references. There is no page limit for appendix.

Each submission will be reviewed by two reviewers. The accepted papers are allowed to get submitted to other conference venues. This workshop has no archival proceedings.

Camera-Ready Submission Instructions

To prepare the camera-ready version of your paper for the FM4LS workshop at ICML 2025, please follow the formatting and submission guidelines outlined below.

The camera-ready paper may be up to 5 pages of main content (one additional page compared to the review version), with unlimited references and appendix. Please update the official ICML 2025 LaTeX template as instructed.

In your LaTeX source, change:

to:

   \usepackage[accepted]{icml2025}

Then, in icml2025.sty, update the footer definition to:

   \newcommand{\ICML@appearing}{\textit{Proceedings of the ICML 2025 Workshop on Multi-modal Foundation Models and Large Language Models for Life Sciences}, Vancouver, Canada. 2025. Copyright 2025 by the author(s).}
